Your first writing task

This walkthrough takes you from installing Verbiqo to a first rewrite in any app, then a summary and an explanation. Allow about ten minutes.

Each step says where to go, what you supply, what success looks like, what to do if it fails, and whether you need an administrator.

1. Install Verbiqo

Where: The download section of verbiqo.app. Drag Verbiqo to Applications, then open it.
You supply: The right download: Apple Silicon or Intel.
Success: The Verbiqo icon appears in the menu bar.
If it fails: Install details.
Administrator: Only if your Mac does not let you install apps.

2. Allow Accessibility

Where: macOS asks the first time. Otherwise: System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility, and switch on Verbiqo. Windows needs no permission.
You supply: Your approval.
Success: Verbiqo is on in the list.
If it fails: If it is on but the shortcut does nothing, switch it off and on again. Details.
Administrator: On a managed Mac, your administrator may need to allow it.

3. Choose a model

Where: Menu bar icon › Settings… › AI provider, Test & Load Models, Model, Save. Choosing an AI service.
You supply: The provider and endpoint, and an API key if the service needs one. The default context, timeout and temperature suit writing.
Success: Your models are listed and saved. For a service outside your computer, Verbiqo asks you to confirm where your text will go. Press I Understand and Use This Endpoint.
If it fails: Troubleshooting covers endpoints, keys and certificates.
Administrator: Your organization’s gateway address and key, if you use one.

4. Rewrite a sentence

Where: Any app with text you can select, such as Mail or Notes. Select a sentence and press ⌘⇧R (CtrlShiftR on Windows), then choose Professional.
You supply: The selection.
Success: Verbiqo replaces only the selected text with the new version. If the model changed an email address, link, path, host name or version, the replacement is refused instead.
If it fails: Some apps only accept copy and paste. Verbiqo warns first and lets you turn that off. When text is not replaced.
Administrator: No.

5. Summarize, or explain

Where: Select a long message and choose Summarize or Key points. Select an error and choose Explain: it answers beside your text and leaves it alone. To summarize a whole file, use the menu bar icon (how).
You supply: The text or the file.
Success: The summary or explanation opens in a window, ready to copy. For a document and a service outside your computer, Verbiqo asks before the text leaves it.
If it fails: Document limits · Explain and ask.
Administrator: No.

Check before you send. The writing is your model’s. Verbiqo checks identifiers and only replaces what you selected, but it cannot judge whether the meaning is right for your reader.
